My Colours!

That wonderful Golden time
When I was ickle
Very naughty, a little haughty
Innocent but not fickle.

“Queen of Persuasion”
Yes, you heard it right!
Used to sprawl on the Grey concrete
To buy those special colours, my pride!

Far away from this sophisticated world,
I lived in Red, Yellow, Blue
Green, Orange, Black and White
Cherishing the richness of the hues.

Dreamily sniffing that 5 Rs. kit
Whose denizens were slender fragrant sticks
Laughed at the charmingly idiot joker
Sitting majestically on their tips!

They thought I just criss-crossed
On my canvas, the house walls!
My colours blended so well
Unrecognisable for them after all.

Disguised in those criss-crosses
Whirled the ocean of my art;
Blue seas, Green fields
Yellow sun, a beating Red heart!

I had painted my Orange ice-cream,
Twinkling Pink twilight sky,
My bright White moon
Shining in the Black night sky! 

But you know, on my canvas

Black and White never bred contempt.
They understood that fighting
Was never a wise attempt!

Because without the dark Black sky
Even scintillating moon is dull…
And without the bright White moon
Even the vast sky appears null…

How beautiful they look(ed) together
Wrapped around each other.
Spark of my colours taught them
To complement one another!

But I’ve no 5 Rs. kit anymore
My colours are changing, singing yearning cries,
Leaving behind the Green jealousy
Black sorrows and White lies!

Immaculate walls of my room 
Stand smirking in total contrast
To the vibrancy of my colours.
These artless walls render me aghast.

How I wish to travel back
To paint those childhood dreams
And dance in the colourful fountains
Discovering new realms…

YES! I am going back
To relive all that you’ve just read
But this time I’ve picked a paper and pencil
Painting the tale of my colours through Grey lead!
